Pepper spray subdues assault suspect

Pepper spray was deployed into a bedroom to apprehend a man accused of threatening to kill his wife at a Wartrace Pike home early Friday, Shelbyville police said.

Antonio Quanard Pleasant, 40, of Anthony Lane was allegedly standing over the woman when she awoke around 3 a.m., she told police. Officers said Pleasant had climbed through a rear window. The woman had taken out a warrant against Pleasant for aggravated domestic assault in an earlier case.

Police arrived around 4:30 a.m. after the victim texted a relative. Pleasant would not respond to officers' orders to leave a room where he was hiding under a bed, the report said, leading to the decision to use pepper spray.

Pleasant surrendered and was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. He was being held on $20,000 bond.

*** Shoplifting

• Meth was found on a shoplifting suspect after police were told where she would possibly be found.

Police found Dixie Marie Floyd, 42, of Tullahoma on South Main Street. She handed Officer David Dye a backpack containing $201 worth of clothing items from Factory Connection, Lane Parkway, but denied having taken them, his report said. She said "two men" had taken the items.

Dye said he searched Floyd's vehicle and found a bag containing .9 grams of crystal meth plus drug paraphernalia.

Floyd was charged with possession of a schedule II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and shoplifting. He was released on $3,500 bond.

• Troy Dwayne Kimmons, 52, of South Cannon Boulevard was charged with shoplifting after allegedly attempting to leave Walmart without paying for an insulated jacket, insulated coveralls and the pair of boots he was wearing. He was also charged with driving on a revoked license and leaving the scene of an accident and posted $2,000 bond.

• Jessica Lynn Reaux, 35, of Old Unionville Road was charged with shoplifting after removing a hammock from a shelf and taking it to the Walmart service desk, claiming she was returning it and requesting a refund as a gift card.

*** Thefts

• Two lawn mowers and a Weedeater were stolen from Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, U.S. 41A South, sometime last week, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office said.

The burglary was discovered Sunday. A latch was cut to gain entry and tire tracks, which a deputy said appeared to be fresh, from a tow vehicle and trailer were visible in grass near the building.

• Tools and other items were stolen from a storage building in the 3000 block of U.S. 41A North, the BCSO was told Friday, Tin snips suspected to have been used to cut a hole in a well were found in the parking lot.

• A television was taken from a Burt Street home last week, police were told. An ex-roommate was named as a suspect.

• A cellphone was stolen from a shopping cart Saturday at Food Lion, Colloredo Boulevard.

*** Bad relationships dept.

• Lingerie taken from a Riverview Drive home is suspected to have been taken by a man the burglary victim was accused of assaulting Wednesday, police said.

The victim bonded out of jail late Thursday night and returned home to find door locks changed, windows screwed down and the lingerie missing from a bedroom.

• A woman's boyfriend allegedly drove away with clothing, $200 and a debit card belonging to her as she was briefly away from their vehicle at a Barksdale Lane home Thursday, She reported the items stolen Friday.

• An AR-15 rifle was reported missing from an Oakwood Trailer Park home Saturday. No signs of forced entry were found, The victim said personal documents have been stolen previously and his estranged wife, who has a key to the residence, could be a suspect.

*** Fake bill

A woman allegedly made a purchase with a counterfeit $100 bill at Economy Liquors, Madison Street, on Saturday and attempted to distract the clerk from looking closely at it throughout the transaction, police were told.

An officer talked with the suspect, who claimed the bill was given to her as change at a yard sale. No charges were filed but police said the case is still under investigation.

*** Drug charge

Approximately 2 grams of marijuana were allegedly found in a vehicle on U.S. 231 North during a traffic stop early Sunday, according to a Bedford County deputy's report.

Dylan Lee Billings allegedly had the substance in a bag in the glove box. Billings was cited for simple possession.
