On Friday, November 8, Abby Faith Cheeseman, senior at The Webb School in Bell Buckle, won the Division II State Championship in cross county at Sanders Ferry Park with a time of 17:22.47. This marks the fifth consecutive year she has won the varsity state championship, a first-time achievement in TSSAA history.
“It feels pretty surreal,” stated Cheeseman. “This breaks Rebbeca Story’s record, and knowing that I’m following that legacy is really special.”
Cheeseman has been given a scholarship to run for the University of Virginia next school year.
The Webb School’s girls cross country team had a strong showing at the state finals in Hendersonville, winning the Division II State Runner-Up trophy.
