This week, I met with dozens of constituents, attended the yearly Capitol Jam reception as well as over half a dozen others, and worked hard to get legislation through Committees in order to be heard on the Senate floor in weeks to come.
We had a number of exciting visitors including the Future Farmers of America, Victory Baptist Academy and the Firefighters’ Walk for Dustin, and I got to see some of the best and brightest that Tennessee has to offer.
After passing Senate Bill 1248 in the Health Committee last week, it passed unanimously on the Senate floor this Thursday. This bill increases transparency between health insurance providers and their clients, and prevents patients from incurring unannounced medical costs by moving forward with treatment before it is approved by their insurance providers. This will reduce the incidence of overcharges and makes it so that insurance providers, healthcare providers, and patients engage in open conversation about the costs of healthcare before moving forward.
I would like to continue welcoming constituents to the Capitol in the following weeks. Please feel free to reach out to my office if you’re interested in coming to see us or if you have any questions or concerns.
