Rose Marie Harrison Clark passed away on Thursday morning, November 8, in Shelbyville. “RoRo” was born and raised in Shelbyville. She was the daughter of George D. Harrison and Mary E. Parker Harrison. She was an only child and attended Shelbyville Central High school, graduating in 1949, where she was Valedictorian and Homecoming queen. She married James M. Clark and they lived happily together for 58 years until he passed away in 2007. She is survived by 2 sons: Dr. Jimmy Clark (Brenda) Shelbyville, and Ed/Eddie Clark (Sue), Germantown, TN; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
RoRo loved sports (taking after her father, George Harrison, who was an avid sportsman, little league baseball coach, and a TN Game & Fish officer), music, grandkids, and helping others. She was raised with a fishing pole at Lake Bedford as a child and as a young adult never missed a Shelbyville Eagles basketball or football game. Ms. Clark worked as Deputy Clerk & Master of Chancery Court in the Bedford County Court House for many years with her mother, who was Clerk & Master. After moving to Franklin, TN, she worked for several years at the Williamson County Bank branch in Brentwood, where she became friends with many of the country music stars who lived in the area.
Later in life, after moving back to Shelbyville to retire, she flew around the country with her husband in a V-tail Bonanza (airplane.) She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville (which was co-founded by her grandfather). Among her many missions, she played the organ at nursing homes and visited shut-ins. For the last few years, she was blessed to live with a wonderful group of friends at the Carriage House Inn in Shelbyville.
Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at First Christian Church of Shelbyville with Pastor Bobby McGee officiating. Burial followed at Rosebank Cemetery in the Flat Creek community.
Visitation with the family was held 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the church, prior to funeral services.
Doak Howell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
