Ruth Horton Statum, 87, of Shelbyville, died October 20, 2024. Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 25th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation began at 12:00 P.M.
She was born December 20, 1936, in Lynchburg; former owner/operator of Rainbow Daycare of Shelbyville; a graduate of Lynchburg High School and a member of First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Garrett Horton and Annie Lee Price Horton; her husband, Fred C. "Tony" Statum Jr. and a brother, Edward Price Horton and a son-in-law, John E. Stackle. Ruth is survived by her children, Sandy O'Rourke (Bill) of Rutland, Vermont, Susie Stackle of Knoxville and Fred C. "Buddy" Statum III (Tanya) of Primm Springs, TN.; a sister, Mary Nell May of Tullahoma; 9 grandchildren, Kevin O'Rourke (Hillary), Melanie O'Rourke (Geoff), Brian O'Rourke, Patrick O'Rourke, Tony Stackle, Alex Stackle,Anna Stackle, Garrett Statum, Jake Statum; 4 great grandchildren, Cruz Forrest, Sophie O'Rourke, Paige Bloomer, Emmett Hausmann; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Frances Gill and Lynda Phillips.
