Samuel W. Parker, age 77, of Shelbyville, passed from this life Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at The Heart Remembers following an extended illness.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Donegan Parker; brother, George Parker and sister, Judy Hudson.

Born November 17, 1943 in Shelbyville, TN, he was the son of the late John Edward Parker and Robbie Ellen Parks Parker. Mr. Parker was a firefighter with the Shelbyville Fire Department for 38 years. He loved weekend trips to the mountains and the beaches of Gulf Shores. He and his wife, Patricia, could be seen riding their BMW motorcycle on the weekends. Sam was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by: daughters, Karen Parker Darnell and Kim (Darrell) Taylor; son, Jamie (Paula) Parker; brother Howard Parker; grandchildren, Britney (Jamie) Warren, Brandon (Morgan) Darnell, Samantha (Brandon) Braun, Peyton (Hunter) Hayes, Jamison Parker, Justin (Lacey)Taylor and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 1:00 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Ron DeWitt officiating. Mr. Parker will be laid to rest at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

The family requests visitors to wear masks and social distance.
