School board member offers clarification

To the Editor:

After reading the story printed in the Shelbyville Times-Gazette regarding the meeting of the Bedford County School board it is apparent that I either misspoke or misrepresented my thoughts or I was taken out of context in regards to conversations I had with commissioners as individuals.

My intent in contacting approximately 12 or so of them was simply to plead my position and ask for consideration for our board to meet with them and come to some type of agreement on how we move forward. I have not previewed the video of our meeting to see exactly what I expressed.

It was not my intent to imply that every commissioner I spoke to was in agreement with me and in agreement with anything in my position other than I felt they would like to continue to have a working relationship with the school board and a desire to move forward in doing what is best...and if that is not how it came out in our meeting then I apologize to each and every one.

My desire in this process is for our board to be heard and for both of our respective boards to sit down and establish a clear cut policy and procedure that is clearly expressed. Again my apologies to the members of the commission.

Member, Bedford County Board of Education
