LAWRENCEBERG, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Eaglettes (10-1, 5-0) and Golden Eagles (11-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten in District 8-AA play on Monday afternoon against Lawrenceberg, winning handily, 6-1 and 7-0, respectively.

LAWRENCEBERG, Tenn. – The Shelbyville Central Eaglettes (10-1, 5-0) and Golden Eagles (11-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten in District 8-AA play on Monday afternoon against Lawrenceberg, winning handily, 6-1 and 7-0, respectively.
To start, the Eaglettes took both of the doubles points despite facing adversity in both. Lilly Smith and Sophie Ray took down Ellie Merriman and MyKah Hughes, 8-4, before Addie Berry and Abby Thaxton held off Sydney Smith and Ella Golden, 8-5.
In the singles matches, the Eaglettes lost just a single match. On Court One, Lilly Smith made quick work of Ellie Merriman, 8-0, while on Court Three, Sophie Ray did the same to Maddie Redd, also winning cleanly, 8-0. On Court Two, MyKah Hughes gave Addie Berry everything she could have wanted, yet Berry persevered, pulling out the win, 8-6. On Court Four, Lawrenceberg’s Mailyss Quennelle took down SCHS’ Abby Thaxton, 8-6, but after Elsa Aldis fended off Samantha Stanfill, 8-5, Shelbyville secured its fifth-consecutive win to open district play.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles looked just as impressive, taking down Lawrenceberg without dropping a single match. For the doubles points, the duo of Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson held off Wes Brewer and Kingston Dale, winning 8-5, while Justin Spence and Tanner Johnson took down Yako Arredando and Haden Hanley, 8-3, to sweep the doubles matches.
On the singles side, Henry Stone took care of Wes Brewer, 8-2, on Court One. On Court Two, Justin Spence made quick work of Kingston Dale, 8-0, while Tucker Johnson beat Wyatt Gang, 8-3, on Court Three. Tanner Johnson handily defeated Yako Arredondo, 8-2, on Court Four before Carter Watson sealed the clean 7-0 sweep with a thrilling win over Haden Hanley, 8-6, on Court Five.
Shelbyville takes a break from district play on Tuesday, hosting Wilson Central starting at 3:45 p.m., before returning to district play to take on Coffee County in Manchester at 3:00 p.m on Wednesday.
