It was a close loss for the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglette tennis squad on Monday to visiting Coffee County.
Despite several close matches, the Eaglettes fell, 4-3.
Shelbyville picked up singles victories by No. 1 seed Ainsley Noel and No. 5 Caitlyn Burdick.
Noel defeated Lauren Perry in convincing fashion 8-2, while Burdick outlasted Maci Lawrence in a 9-7 thriller.
Coffee County and Shelbyville split doubles matches, with Noel and Burdick claiming the only doubles victory by beating Wren Lawson and Maci Lawrence, 8-1.
In the boys competition, it was a rough afternoon for the Eagles as Coffee County claimed the 7-0 victory.
The Eagles had several close matches, despite not being able to post an individual victory.
Jordan Blevins came the closest to a victory as he battled to an 8-5 final score in the No. 1 singles slot.
Blevins, along with teammate Ronnie Hernandez, also fought to an 8-5 doubles final score as well.
The tennis squads will be on the road at Lincoln County on Tuesday afternoon before returning home on Wednesday to face Tullahoma.
Both matches are set for a 3:30 p.m. start.
