Shelbyville Community Soup Kitchen held a ribbon cutting and open house Sunday at its new location, 336 South Cannon Boulevard. Cookies and punch were served to several guests.
Shelbyville Police Department and volunteers helped with traffic control. The newly renovated, spacious, dining area in the new building (located across the street from Landers Tire) was decorated with a spring theme.
The new building is right down the road from the old facility—the former Save-A-Lot. It’s been a long time coming, volunteers said Sunday, but the ministry, obviously, is only growing stronger.
Serving hours will move to 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesdays, now that volunteers can serve inside, beginning Tuesday, April 5.
