It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven (Steve) Francis Bass, 72, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Marietta, Georgia, on October 22, 2024. Steve was born February 17, 1952, in Shelbyville to Corinne and Sion Bass.
Steve was a lifelong member of Powers Ferry Methodist Church and later joined Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he made many dear friends. Steve graduated from Wheeler High School in 1970. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Administration with a minor in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University in 1973 followed by a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management in 1975. He later continued his education with a Master’s in Business Administration in Aviation from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Steve was in Risk Management for Fireman’s Fund for most of his professional life and later retired from Risk Consultants of America. His retirement marked the end of a fulfilling career and the beginning of new adventures.
Steve was an avid Tennessee Vols fan with a deep passion for aviation, proudly earning his pilot’s license. He found joy in the outdoors, whether cycling, playing tennis, or competing in a game of pickleball. Steve’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, cherished for his friendship, kindness, witty sense of humor, steadfast faith, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Corinne and Sion Bass. He is survived by his loving family including his sister, Judy Bass Rowe; his nieces: Melissa Rowe Bennett and husband, Loren; Ashley Rowe Randall and husband, Mark; his cousins: Patricia Simmons Hubbard and Rick Simmons; nine great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church of Marietta. Memorials may be made to the Missions Fund at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
