UNIONVILLE – The Community Middle Vikings outscored the Central Magnet Tigers 14-3 in the second quarter to extend their lead and went on to defeat the Tigers 45-29 in a basketball contest Monday night.
The Vikings jumped out to the lead in the opening quarter and never trailed.
Landon Lovvorn scored seven points as Community took a 12-9 advantage to the second quarter.
Six Vikings contributed points in the quarter as Community scored the first 12 points to take a 24-9 lead.
The Tigers could only settle on a three-pointer as the Vikings took a 26-12 lead into halftime.
Austin Wilson scored four points to pace the Vikings in the third quarter.
The Tigers found the range and outscored Community 10-8 to cut the Viking lead to 34-22 heading to the final quarter.
Landon Berman scored five of his seven fourth quarter points during a 7-0 run as the Vikings took their biggest lead at 43-26 en route to the win.
Wilson led the Vikings with 11 points while Lovvorn added 10.
Drew Massengale scored 13 points and Owen White added 11 for the Tigers.
Community travels to Forrest Thursday night.
