Strong finish lands Eagles district win

The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles closed out the game in high fashion in a 56-40 District 8-AAA win over visiting Franklin County in the Rick Insell Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

After leading 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, 16-12 at halftime and 32-22 after three periods, the Eagles scored 24 points in the fourth stanza to claim the double-digit victory.

"This was a great team win. We've had a rough stretch, but I credit our guys for being coachable every day," Shelbyville Central coach Andrew Hicks said."

Jai'lain Anderson scored a game-high 20 points for the Eagles with 18 coming in the second half.

Daman Heath contributed 14 and was dominant inside the paint.

Jayshon Jones added 11.

Kane Reed netted 11 followed by Aydan Yates with 10 to lead the Rebels in scoring.

"Our guys, deep down, are committed to the process although we haven't achieved the results we want so far. The guys are slowly starting to see the fruits of their labors," Hicks said.

The Eagles host Tullahoma on Monday evening on Senior Night at 7:30.
