Suspect runs into the woods to elude police

A suspect listed as William Joseph White in the Bedford County Jail intake and later identified as Josh White was arrested after allegedly trying to elude Shelbyville police early Saturday.

White, 39, of Pittsfield, New Hampshire, showed up on the front porch of an Earnhart Street home shortly after 4 a.m. saying two people wanted to kill him, police said. He allegedly ran into a wooded area after police declined to search for the people. The police report said officers didn’t hear the people White claimed to be hearing and thought he was hallucinating.

White was arrested after allegedly resisting arrest attempts. He was charged with public intoxication, criminal impersonation and resisting stop/halt/frisk and held on $4,000 bond

•A Jacksonville, Florida man was charged with resisting stop/frisk/halt/search for allegedly refusing to get into a restraint chair at Bedford County Jail on Saturday night.

William Harrell Mills, 41, was clocked at 43 mph in a 30 mph zone on Madison Street, a report by Officer Darrian Lanier said. Mills allegedly objected to a blood draw and resisted three officers’ attempts to place him into the chair.

Mills was also charged with DUI and speeding. He posted $4,000 bond.

**Thefts

•A shotgun and six rifles are missing from a home in the 3400 block of U.S. 231 North, a Bedford County Sheriff’s Offce deputy was told Sunday.

•A cell phone, speaker and two pocket knives were stolen from a Troupe Road home Friday night while the owner was chopping wood, a BCSO report said.

•Patsy Ann Franklin, 67, Green Lane; DUI (second offense), due care; released, $3,500 bond

•Michael Anthony Garbacz, 24, Shaw Road; failure to appear, three capiases. bondsman surrender; held, $24,000 bond

•Ediv Alberto Godinez, 27, Ledbetter Street; aggravated domestic assault, evading arrest; held, $7,500 bond

•James McKinley Jett Sr., 48, North Main Street; violation of probation; released, no bond
