HUNTLAND — The Community Viqueens stayed close to the Huntland Lady Hornets in three of the four quarters, but the third quarter was the difference as the Viqueens fell 46-32 in a basketball contest Tuesday night.
It was the second loss of the season for the Viqueens, with both losses coming at the hands of the Lady Hornets.
M.J. Simmons scored seven points as Community (6-2) matched the Lady Hornet output in the opening quarter.
The game was tied 9-9 heading to the second quarter.
The game stayed close in the quarter as Shelby Cawthon came off the bench to score four points for the Viqueens.
Huntland took a 20-18 lead into halftime.
The Viqueens had trouble finding the basket in the third quarter as the Lady Hornets extended their lead.
Community could only manage four points while Huntland connected for 15 as the Lady Hornets took a 35-22 lead to the final quarter.
Haley Mitchell scored eight points for the Viqueens in the final quarter, but Community was still outscored 11-10 as the Lady Hornets took the win.
Jocy May scored 13 points to lead the Lady Hornets.
Mitchell led Community with 12 points.
Huntland was 11-of-19 at the free throw line while the Viqueens were 5-of-6.
Community travels to Shelbyville for a 6 p.m. intra-county game Saturday night.
