Thomas Arthur Nevel, age 81, of Normandy passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home, under the loving care and comfort of his family and Avalon Hospice.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Jim Sorrells will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in the Belfast community.
The family will receive visitors 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the funeral home.
He was born February 1, 1942, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late James Arthur and Marilla Rudasille Nevel. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service, and also retired from Arnold Engineering Development after a second 20-year career. He was also maintenance manager at Tullahoma Airport. He held membership at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Crockett Nevel, in 2013, and a brother, Jake Nevel.
Survivors include his companion, Linda Jernigan; two daughters, Kim Heaven, of Normandy and Gena Hall, of Estill Springs; a brother, Paul Nevel, and his wife Betty, and a sister, Myra Sue Simmers, all of Altoona, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Haley Alexander, and her husband, Josh, and Megan Heaven; great-grandchildren, Greyson Alexander, Denver Alexander, and Fischer Alexander.
Mr. Nevel would be honored with memorials made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
