Shelbyville Central just fell a little short of an upset in a 33-29 District 8-AAA loss to Tullahoma on Monday evening in the Rick Insell Gymnasium.
It was an offensive struggle for both teams with the Lady Wildcats posting an 11-8 advantage at the end of the first quarter, 16-10 at halftime and 22-17 going into the fourth quarter.
"The girls knew they had a tough battle ahead of them tonight, but they did not back down," Shelbyville Central coach Jen Hicks said.
"They were attentive to the game plan and executed with composure and discipline."
The Eagletttes (9-9, 4-7) took a 26-25 lead with 3:22 left in the game off a Kelsey Harden 3-pointer.
"You could feel the excitement as we closed the gap in the fourth quarter. We held Tullahoma to the lowest amount of points scored all season," Hicks said.
"We made enough plays throughout the game to put ourselves in a position to win, we just didn't make enough shots."
Tullahoma's Lucy Nutt was the only player to score in double figures with 15.
Harden's nine points off three treys led the Eaglettes.
