Wartrace Strawberry Festival Planned

Is it too early to start talking about strawberries? Apparently not in The Town of Wartrace, which is already making plans for its annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Strawberry Festival is the town’s annual celebration of spring and all things strawberry organized by the Wartrace Chamber of Commerce.

Set in Historic downtown Wartrace, the railroad town hosts a variety of vendors selling their arts and crafts, baked goods, decor, boutique clothing, knives, pottery, canned goods, handmade items, direct sales products, and so much more! Each booth will have something strawberry-themed.

Fresh strawberries will be for sale by local farmers from the surrounding areas. Everyone attending is asked to wear a strawberry costume to join the Strawberry Parade.

Also to be held will be the annual Strawberry Bake-Off Contest or Strawberry Jam/Jelly Contest. Performers to be announced.

This event is free and will be outdoors on the square in downtown Wartrace, which for first-time visitors is just 30 minutes south of Murfreesboro.

Wartrace features shops, a deli sandwich shop, and a pizzeria—all on the square. This is an event for the whole family, even fur buddies. Dogs must be on leashes.

Schedule of Activities

  • Strawberry Parade - Wagons, bikes, or plan to walk, and wear your best strawberry attire. Line up at the Dollar General store at 10:15 a.m. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m.
  • Strawberry Bake-Off Contest - All entries must be homemade and strawberry-themed. Prizes for Best Tasting (1st), Most Presentable (2nd), and Strawberry Spirit (3rd) will be given! Judging will take place in the middle of the downtown square at the old “Well House” at noon. (Look for strawberry balloons.) Must submit entry form along with $5 fee to participate. Instructions to submit are at the bottom of form. Dessert entries must be dropped off by 11:30 a.m. For application information, go to WartraceChamber.org

Vendors Needed for 2022!

The festival is open for arts and crafts booths, decor, antiques, knives, pottery, woodwork, homemade or local items, some direct sales, etc.

All booths must have something strawberry-themed whether to be sold or given away. Electricity for booths is limited and mostly unavailable.

The small Bedford County town is estimating to draw 100 booths. The goal is to serve more than 1,500 shoppers.
