BELL BUCKLE - The Webb School has hired Scott Hall, an Atlanta Braves associate scout, as varsity baseball head coach. He will join Webb June 1.

Hall, who previously spent four seasons as a member of the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raider baseball coaching staff, worked primarily with the offense, in addition to serving as the recruiting coordinator. Prior to MTSU, he was a member of the Belmont University baseball coaching staff for six years.

"We are extremely pleased to have Scott Hall join our team at Webb to help re-establish and grow our baseball program and develop the student-athletes. His experience and success speaks volumes about coaching college athletes to develop their work ethic, skill and talent to excel in baseball," said Webb Head of School Ken Cheeseman.

"It is also clear that he understands that athletics is an important foundational piece for younger student-athletes, as Webb continues to focus on academics, arts and athletics and its emphasis on character."

Scott Dorsett, Webb Director of Athletics, added, "We are so excited for Scott Hall to take the helm of our varsity baseball program. Scott brings a wealth of experience to Webb from his days of coaching college baseball and scouting for the Atlanta Braves. The vision Coach Hall has for the baseball program is exciting and falls right in line with the vision of the athletics department and our Head of School Ken Cheeseman's vision. Keep your eye on this program as Coach Hall leads our baseball team back to prominence in the TSSAA."

"I'm very excited about this opportunity to revive the Webb baseball program and see it grow to its highest potential," said Hall. "With the great opportunities that Webb offers to both day and boarding students in the classroom, this program will be one that student-athletes from all over the world will want to be a part of." He added, "I have missed the relationships with players since I last coached, and I can't wait to have the opportunity to work with these students at such an impressionable age. I want to thank Head of School Ken Cheeseman and Director of Athletics Scott Dorsett for the opportunity to lead this program and see it grow before our eyes."

In 2005 Hall served as the head coach for Region III and IV at the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Showcase. He has also staffed numerous camps across the country including the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University and the University of Illinois.

Before joining Belmont in the summer of 2006, Hall was the head baseball coach at Central High School in Shelbyville. During his seven-year stint at Shelbyville, his teams won the District 8-AAA championship two times and set a school record in wins four times. Hall was named District 8-AAA Coach of the Year in 2006 and saw 16 players go on to play college baseball, including six at the Division I level and two MLB Draft picks (Rex Brothers, first round; Jonathan White, 41st round). Under Hall's direction, the program raised $350,000 to fund new facilities, including an indoor hitting facility and clubhouse.

Hall coached under two of the most respected coaches in college baseball -- Dave Jarvis the all-time winningest coach in Belmont history and the 2015 Conference USA Coach of the Year Jim McGuire at MTSU.

In his years at Belmont, he coached and recruited 20 players who were drafted, with Matt Beaty of the World Series-champion Dodgers currently in the big leagues. Also at Belmont, he coached Packy Elkins, who is currently a coach with the St. Louis Cardinals. Hall's other credits include coaching/recruiting 13 players at MTSU who were drafted. Zac Curtis made it to the big leagues with four teams and is current head coach of Loretto High School. As an Atlanta Braves associate scout since leaving MTSU, Hall was influential in drafting Riley Delgado in the 9th round of the 2017 Draft. Rex Brothers (Shelbyville Central) is on the Cubs opening-day roster this year.

Hall was a four-year starter at Maryville College, where he earned All-South honors in 1995 and graduated in 1998. Hall and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Murfreesboro with their son Preston, who is 14 and daughter Piper, who is 6.
