MANCHESTER — Webb's Conner Brown has been consistent in his scores all year.
That trend continued this week in the TSSAA Div. II Class A state golf tournament as Brown carded a 144, even par.
“Conner finished even par for the tournament. He battled hard the entire week. It was very hot and he just never quit. He had a great season. His match average was right around even par and had several under par matches this year,” Webb coach Jeff Mitchell said.
On Monday, Brown battled his way to a tie for fourth place after the first day of competition and shot a 71.
He battled brutal heat on the course and followed with a 73 to take fifth place in the competition.
“We really want to credit his work but also how he acted the entire tournament. In the heat, it's easy to get tired and get frustrated and he just shook off everything bad that happened to him and he made 10 birdies this week,” Mitchell added.
Clarksville Academy's Patton Samuels won the tournament with a 136.
With the 2019 tournament in the books, Mitchell hopes Brown can make a repeat trip back to Manchester next season as well.
“Hopefully he can be back next year and maybe even the team. Webb School is proud of him,” Mitchell said.
