Who will pay for socialism?

To the Editor:

The dictionary defines socialism as, “political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.” In other words, everything is managed by a totalitarian government.

Generations from 21 years (Generation Z to age 38-53 years old (Generation X) view socialism as a means of social justice and view capitalism as only benefiting people of privilege. The Axios poll conducted in February 2019, finds 73.2% of millennials (22-37 years old) and Generation Z believe the government should provide free universal health care and free college tuition.

It is clear that socialism appeals to younger people compared to people 50 years old or older. These so-called positive narratives have their beginnings in high school or college, reinforced by media and other institutions. I think we need to educate our youth on the dangers of this form of government.

History has shown socialism has failed throughout the world in all forms, including Marxism-Leninism in the Soviet Union, Maoism in China, State socialism in India, Democratic Socialism in Sweden, and National socialism in Nazi Germany. These countries have been forced to adopt capitalistic measures to counter the mess created by socialism.

Socialism has NEVER brought prosperity, yet all Democrat presidential candidates in 2020 race is espousing socialism! Bernie Sanders (an admitted democratic socialist) received roughly 2 million votes from voters under the age of 30 in the 2016 presidential election.

Socialism is not only responsible for crumbling economics, but it is also responsible for more than 100 million deaths. Harvard University Press published research in “The Black Book of Communism” that document the awful truth that in each and every Marxist-Socialist regime, the only way to gain power was through the death of others.

While socialist’s ideals are understandingly tempting for America’s frustrated youth, reality paints a far less pleasing picture. The socialist goal has always been to shift power away from the people toward a central government, and destroying the success of the working class.

Here are some quotes from real champions of freedom:

“The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I am here to help you.” (Ronald Reagan)

“The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.” (Margaret Thatcher)

“A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have.” (Barry Goldwater)

“Back in the thirties we were told we must collectivize the nation because people were so poor. Now we are told we must collectivize the nation because the nation is so rich.” (William F. Buckley)

“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” (Winston Churchill)

“I’m enjoying the irony of American Bernie Sanders supporters lecturing me, a former Soviet citizen, on the glories of socialism and what it really means! Socialism sounds great in speech soundbites and on Facebook, but please keep it there. In practice, it corrodes not only the economy but the human spirit itself, and the ambition and achievement that made modern capitalism possible and brought millions out of poverty.” Garry Kasparov (Human rights activist and former World Chess Champion)

“Socialism requires a totalitarian system---that gives the ruling gang the power to distribute the fruits of other people’s labor to its political pals.” (Phyllis Schlafly)

“The moment America becomes a socialist country is the moment America ceases to be America.” (Mike Pence)

The ugly truth about socialism is the ideology does NOT work. Socialism does Not make people prosperous; does not expand liberty and freedom; it strips people of self-reliance and individuality. “Medicare for all” strips people of their choices and will crush the quality of care. I wonder if Bernie Sanders outcome would have been successful if Medicare for all was in place? The “green new deal” will devastate our economy and will make the American dream unattainable. The confiscation of guns is the socialist first priority. (Individuals can’t defend themselves.)

I can not imagine any American wanting to live under socialism when history has shown us it has never worked. Our economy is booming. The tax cuts benefit working people and helped create millions of jobs. This administration has two trade agreements to be signed that will help our farmers and others. Manufacturing jobs are coming back to the USA. Just yesterday it was announced that Texas will start making leather women’s handbags that will provide 1,000 jobs. And yet we have democrats pushing socialism. Ask yourself, why is the Democrat party pushing socialism?? Is it because they want power over our nation?? Or is it something more sinister? I will leave you with that thought.
