A woman suffering from a gunshot wound was found when deputies arrived at a report of a shooting at the 200 block Temple Ford Road home shortly after midnight. Police scanner traffic indicated the woman had been shot in the head.
The victim was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
The suspect, identified by the TBI as Samuel Earl Rich of Shelbyville, is currently being sought on charges of attempted first degree murder and theft of property.
“He should be considered armed and dangerous,” the TBI, which is leading the investigation at the request of District Attorney General Robert Carter.
Rich stands 6 feet tall, weighs 165 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes.
In late afternoon law enforcement personnel were conducting a search in southeastern Bedford County near Raus, according to scanner traffic. A vehicle believed to be Rich’s was found on Smith Chapel Road.
