After defeating Marshall County, 3-2, in game one of their final non-district series of the season, the Cascade Champions returned home to celebrate Senior Night for Track & Field and Baseball before falling, 8-1, in game two against the Tigers on Monday night.

Cascade Track & Field Seniors (from left to right), Juliana Anderholt, Hailey Giel, McKenzie Hensel, and Grace Wilder were recognized on Monday night.

All nine seniors were in the starting lineup for the Champions, with Caden Hammonds and Luke Harris, two seniors with just a few spot starts this season between them, going 4-5 at the plate, including Hammonds going 3-4 and recording Cascade’s lone RBI of the game after coming into the night with four hits all season. Harris delivered a base hit in only his third at-bat of the year, improving to 2-3 at the plate overall.

Sawyer Lovvorn, Walker Craig, Logan Green, and sophomore substitute Jordan Childress all recorded one hit. Connor Melson joined Hammonds as the only other Champion with a multi-hit game, recording a pair of singles.

The Tigers and the Champions each recorded 10 hits, but Marshall County put together  a couple with men on base (aided by a trio of Cascade errors) while Cascade’s bats left 11 runners stranded.

Cascade wraps up the regular season with a 14-7 record (6-2) and will host Cannon County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday in the first round of the District 9-AA Tournament.
