Webb School Sees Five Student-Athletes Sign to Continue Their Athletic Careers In College

The Webb School had the opportunity to recognize members of the Class of 2024 that decided to sign and continue pursuing their athletic careers into college over the past couple weeks. 

In total, Webb saw five members of this year’s Senior Class sign with five different universities over the last two weeks to play football, volleyball, and soccer. 

Ethan Crunk, Brooks Watson, Christopher Douglas, Gage LeMaster, and Cecil Rodgers were all integral parts of the Webb School’s Class of 2024, and the school released a statement for each:

Ethan Crunk of Wartrace, TN, will continue playing football for the Thunder of Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. He has been a member of the Webb School community since his 8th-grade year and has been involved in a number of on-campus organizations such as Best Buddies, FCA, and the WILD program. He has also been a member of the varsity Basketball and Lacrosse teams. Ethan plans to study pre-physical therapy. 

Head Coach Evan Gay stated, “I am very happy for Ethan and his family. Ethan’s football journey is just getting started, and we are excited to see him reach his potential. He is a tireless worker and a great young man. Good luck, Ethan!”

Brooks Watson of Murfreesboro, TN will continue to play volleyball for the Golden Eagles of Spalding University, Louisville, KY. She has been a member of the Webb School community since her 8th-grade year and has been a member of Dance Marathon and the strings orchestra. She plans to study Biology. 

Head Coach Kristin Jackson stated, “I am so proud of Brooks! She has worked incredibly hard and made many sacrifices to reach this point in her volleyball career. She’s a leader on and off the court and will surely make an immediate impact on the Spalding volleyball program. Good luck, Brooks! Your Webb family will miss you!”

Christopher Douglas of St. Johns, Antigua, will continue playing soccer for the Trojans of Trevecca University, Nashville, TN. He has been a member of the Webb School community since his 11th grade year.

Head Coach Kevin Moore stated, “Chris is at his best when he's enjoying himself. His attitude is infectious and has a genuine love for the game. Our program has been blessed to have and watch a talent like Chris Douglas. He currently stands as our programs all-time leading goalscorer with 50 goals in two seasons. Chris has been a wonderful ambassador of our program and I have no doubt he will go on to amazing things in soccer and in life. We can't wait to watch him at Trevecca!”

Gage LeMaster of Shelbyville, TN will continue playing football for the Tigers of Sewanee - The University of the South, Sewanee, TN. He has been a member of the Webb School community since his 7th grade year and has been involved on both the boys lacrosse and skeet team as well as Best Buddies and Webbathon. Gage plans to study business and economics.

Head Coach Evan Gay stated, “Gage was a senior captain and an outstanding leader on our football team this past season. We had some injuries, and this forced Gage to play some positions he was not accustomed to. He never complained and did his job to the best of his ability. We are so happy that he will continue his football career at Swanee, and wish him the best!”

Cecil Rodgers of Sewanee, TN will continue playing soccer for the Warriors of Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas. He has been a member of the Webb School community since his 11th grade year.

Head Coach Kevin Moore stated, “Cecil is a born leader. He has continued to represent our program to the highest degree. His relationships with his teammates and coaches set the standard as to what a Webb Captain should be. He demands nothing but excellence from himself and will be sorely missed. I wish him nothing but success at Hendrix College. I look forward to watching him play at the next level.”
