Bettye Joyce Woodroof Alley, age 96, of Searcy, Arkansas, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, in her home.

She was born on August 12, 1926, in Albany, Alabama, to C. H. Woodroof and Bessie Woodroof.

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 14, at Rose Bank Cemetery in Flat Creek. Jeff Smith will officiate. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.

Bettye loved letter writing and, in her later years, sending and receiving emails. The family knows Bettye’s correspondences with special friends were maintained for many years. Not only did Bettye love her five children dearly, but she also loved all children, and the young ones knew it and felt it. Her Christian attributes and quick wit have impacted people wherever Bettye has lived. All who knew Bettye understood her love of singing Hymns and her love of reading the New Testament. Bettye’s joy of being a Christian woman permeated every conversation and every interaction with family, friends, and new acquaintances. We all loved her as a result.

Bettye is survived by four children, Claudia Lisle of Searcy, Ken Alley of York, Nebraska, Karen O’Dell of Brentwood, and Sheryl Jaros of Stevensville, Maryland, and thirteen grandchildren and 32-plus great-grandchildren, and one sister, Jody Morris of Tuscumbia, Alabama, and two sisters-in-law, Judy Russell of Franklin and Louine Woodroof of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, Joe K. Alley, her parents, C. H. (Snazzy) and Bessie (Momoosie) Woodroof, her three brothers, Dan, Jim, and Tom Woodroof, one daughter, Bettye Jo Hamm, and two related family babies who died at birth.

Memorials may be to EEM at (eem.org/Donate/) or to York University in York, Nebraska.

Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
