Mrs. Billie Jean Hurt Edwards, age 84, passed away July 6, 2023, under the loving care and comfort of her family, Hospice Compassus and the caring and professional staff of The Waters of Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Bobby McGee will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023, at the funeral home.

She was born August 25, 1938, in Bedford County, to the late Thomas Voyle and Wilma Olivene Morgan Hurt. A graduate of Shelbyville High School, she worked at Day Brothers Grocery, and retired from National Pen Corporation. She held membership at First Baptist Church, where she taught first grade Sunday School for thirty years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sheriff Don Edwards, in 2020.

Survivors include her children, Ralph Edwards, and his wife Sharon; Donna Nixon; Debbie Simons, and her husband Wayne; and Phillip Edwards, and his wife, Dana; sisters, Shirlene Magnuson, Tommy Hurt, Delores Hurt, and Vicki Thomas; grandchildren, Kristen (Joseph) Coriano, Jenna (Joshua) Henderson, Sara Elizabeth (Stephen) Clifford, Shannon (Robin) Sharma, Daniel Floyd, Michael (Jennifer) Simons, Nicholas (Heather) Simons, Christopher (Nicole) Simons, Matthew (Amber) Simons, Jason (Stephanie) Simons, Sydnee Edwards, Aiden Edwards, and Ryan Edwards; thirty four great grandchildren, Emma Simons, Miles Simons, Lincoln Simons, Lawson Simons, Haley Simons, Eli Simons, Ava Simons, Adalynn Simons, Stella Simons, Savanna Simons, Ashtynn Simons, Modesty Simons, Chris Simons, Katelyn Coriano, Karlee Coriano, Clark Henderson, Oliver Henderson, Austin Clifford, Peyton Clifford, Megan Floyd, Morgan Floyd, Jacob Floyd, Scottlyn Floyd, Joselyn Floyd, Benjamin Floyd, Kayne Floyd, Raelyn Floyd, Arabelle Sharma, and Adeline Sharma.

Mrs. Edwards would be honored with memorials made to the Alzheimer's  Association.

Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
