It was another tough night at the plate for the Cascade Champions in a non-district bout against visiting Marshall County on Thursday night.

The Tigers plated runs in every inning and pulled away for a 15-2 victory over Cascade.

Marshall County started the slug-fest early and plated three runs in the top of the first and added five more in the second.

It wasn't until the bottom of the second inning that Cascade got on the scoreboard.

Senior Adam Reeves led off the inning with a single to right and later scored on an error in the field by Marshall County.

Cascade added a second run in the third frame when Ryan Inmon singled home Cade Whitson.

Even with the two runs by the Champs in the second and third, Cascade just wasn't able to manufacture the same level of production as Marshall County.

The Tigers scored a single run in the third, fourth and fifth innings before driving in four in the sixth to reach the 10-run rule limit.

Cascade was also plagued by five errors in the field that led to Marshall County runs.

Of Cascade's five hits, Reeves' double in the third was the only extra base hit the Champions recorded against the Tigers.

Cascade relied on the arms of four pitchers against Marshall County.

Zach Crosslin worked 2 1/3 innings in relief and gave up five runs on five hits, but none were earned. He also struck out two.

Jake Bates also worked 2 1/3 innings in relief and struck out two, while giving up a pair of runs, with just one of which was earned.

Cascade will return to district play on Monday and Tuesday with a home and away series against Marshall County before hosting the Walking Horse Classic next weekend.
