Clifton C. Jones, Jr., age 67, of Shelbyville, passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 16, 1956, Clifton was the son of the late Clifton Jones, Sr. and Ray Jean Redd Jones. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Cliffa Forsthe; brother, Carry Ronald Jones; and great grandson, Ezra Poole.
Clifton had worked as a material handler for Empire Pencil (32 years) and finished out his career with Shepenco (12 years) before retiring early in 2019 due to health concerns. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish and enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was known by family and friends to be a cutup and loved to play practical jokes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Betty Sue Melton Jones; children, Chris Jernigan, Linda (Ricky) Kirkland and Melissa Jones all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Brittany Hee, Lori Poole and Ashton Jones; great grandchildren, Jaxon & Evelyn Hee and Olivia Poole; sisters, Debbie Stewart of Shelbyville and Nina Jones of OK; brothers, Billy (Muriel) Jones and Mark (Goldie) Jones; also several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Rasnick officiating. Following services his remains will be cremated.
Visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made the funeral home to help assist the family with final expenses.
