This cold weather is going to persist through your weekend with partly cloudy skies and highs ranging from the upper 30s to low 40s but dropping into the mid-20s at night. We have a chance of a little more rain and snow returning to our area Monday and Monday night so keep up with the latest forecast.
January is a month that anything can happen across Middle Tennessee ranging from tornadoes to heavy snow. New Year's Day 1964 brought a 9-inch snow to Shelbyville. January 3, 2000 was an unusual warm spell with 68 degrees for our high temperature. January 5, 1960 over 7 inches of snow fell. Just seven years ago on January 7. 2014 temperatures dropped to below zero and highs were only in the teens.
