SMYRNA — After hanging tough through the first half on Tuesday night at Smyrna, the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles struggled to match the pace of play in the second half and saw the Bulldogs erupt for 44 second-half points en route to a 79-46 win over the Eagles.
The Eagles kept the game respectable through the entirety of the first half, trailing just 18-14 after the first period and managed another 14 points in the second quarter and trailed by just seven points at the half.
The difference came in the third quarter when Smryna erupted on a 20-11 run and closed the game with a 24-7 point differential.
Devyn Heath was the only Eagle to land in double figures with 11 points.
The Bulldogs also drilled nine 3-pointers while holding the Eagles to just one.
Shelbyville will hope to get back on track by hosting in-county opponent Cascade on Friday evening.
