COLUMBIA - Shelbyville Central had its chances but just couldn't push enough runs across the plate in a close, 3-2 loss at Columbia Central on Tuesday night.
Both squads plated a run in the first inning, but it was Columbia that jumped ahead with two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Trailing 3-1, the Eaglettes got one back in the fourth, but were unable to find the tying run.
Jaleigha Harris led Shelbyville with a 2-for-3 night, including a home run.
Sarah Margaret Housch got the start in the pitcher's circle and pitched the first three innings before turning the ball over to Hannah Burks, who pitched the final three innings.
Shelbyville gets a break until next week when the Eaglettes host Central Magnet on April 5 at 7 p.m.
