LYNCHBURG - Shelbyville Central's Golden Eaglette softball team opened the season with a 13-8 loss at Moore County on Tuesday evening.
Moore County struck first with a five-run second inning before adding a pair of runs in the third, two more in the fourth and four in the sixth.
The Eaglettes pushed across three runs in the third and rallied for five in the fifth.
Jaleigha Harris ripped a tripe and single, Kaydence Rippy blasted a double and single, Kate McKamey collected a pair of singles, Evie Winfrey ripped a triple while Sarah Margaret Housch added a double to lead Shelbyville Central at the plate.
Senior right-hander Hannah Burks went the distance in the circle for the Eaglettes.
Moore County was led by Anysten Metcalf with three hits. Emilee Moorehead and Madelynn McLaughlin added a pair of hits apiece.
The Eaglettes (0-1) travel to Marshall County on Thursday evening then host Franklin County on Friday evening in a District 8AAA matchup.
