FAYETTEVILLE – The Golden Eaglettes missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer in a 53-50 District 8-AAA loss at Lincoln County on Friday evening.
The game was a close battle until the end, despite four technical fouls called on Shelbyville Central in the second half.
The Lady Falcons held a 13-10 advantage after the first quarter, led 22-20 at the intermission and held a slim 34-33 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Amekia Kate Richerson led the winners with 21 points, including nine in the foruth stanza. Annalise Malone added 10.
It was a balanced scoring effort for the Eaglettes with Izarria Alexander netting 17, Jaliegh Harris 12 while Kaylee Adams and Aliyah Singleton collected nine points apiece.
The Eaglettes (9-11, 3-4) face Lawrence County in a key district contest on Tuesday night at 6. See photo, 2B.
