Eaglettes sweep tri-match to start season

Posted

It was a stellar start to the regular season for the Shelbyville Central volleyball squad on Monday afternoon as the Eaglettes emerged victorious in a tri-match against Tullahoma and Fayetteville City.

The Eaglettes rebounded from a close first set loss to the Lady Wildcats and defeated Tullahoma in three sets.

Tullahoma appeared to gain control of the first match, posting a 25-22 win over the Eaglettes to take a 1-0 lead over Shelbyville.

The Eaglettes responded by winning the following two sets, both of which were closely contested by Tullahoma.

Shelbyville took Set 2, 25-22, and won the match in a third-set tiebreaker by a final score of 15-9.

With the only three sets being played in each match because of three teams participating, the Eaglettes needed just two set wins against the Lady Tigers to claim their second win of the night—and that's just what they got.

The Eaglettes took immediate control of the match against Fayetteville with a 25-11 first-set victory and completed the night's sweep with a 25-21 second set victory.

Allyssa McBay was the offensive hero for the Eaglettes, recording 12 kills in the tri-match sweep, while Chelsea Boleyn had 13 assists.

Lilly Brown chipped in three kills and four blocks while Kyra Esbee added three kills.

The Eaglettes returned to their home court on Wednesday afternoon, however results were unavailable by press time.
