UNIONVILLE — The Community Vikings scored three goals in a span of five minutes to take a comfortable lead into halftime and scored four more goals while playing their entire roster in the second half as the Vikings cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Cannon County Lions in a District 6-A soccer contest Thursday night.
Community (4-1-1, 1-1) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Andres Romero-Abad scored in the third minute with an assist from Randy Anica to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead.
Randy Anica drilled a shot that found the back of the net in the 25th minute to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead.
The Vikings peppered the Lion goal throughout the first half but came up short on several scoring opportunities until Community broke the game open in the final five minutes of the half.
Nicky Anica scored two goals within a span of a minute with assists from Henry Roblero and Randy Anica to up the Viking lead to 4-0.
The Vikings scored their final goal late in the half as Randy Anica recorded his second goal to give Community a 5-0 advantage.
With substitutes seeing considerable action in the second half, the Vikings still kept the pressure on the Lions.
Ramon Hernandez and Brody Ray scored three minutes apart early in the half to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead.
Romero-Abad scored his second goal in the 67th minute with an assist from Andrew Montalvo to give Community an 8-0 lead.
The Vikings completed the scoring and the game with a goal from Jacob Graham in the 77th minute.
Six different Vikings scored in the contest.
Community travels to Forrest for a District 6-A game on Tuesday.
