Isabelle Scales Pewitt of Shelbyville died Saturday, April 24th at the age of 85.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, April 30, 2021, at Shelbyville First Church of the Nazarene. Reverend

Ron DeWitt will officiate, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Thursday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel and again Friday one hour prior to service at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Earl Pewitt, parents, Walter Connell and Eula Bell Molder Scales, a brother, Alton Scales, and brother in law, William Heflin.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Brent (Laura) Pewitt and Sharon (Brad) Greer, grandchildren Bradley and Abby Greer, step grandchildren Mathias (Alison) Anderson, Myles (Samantha) Anderson and Grace Anderson, siblings Connie (FZ) King, Rodney (Myrna) Scales, Nancy Heflin, and Helen (Kary) Collier, nephews Eric (Jen) Scales, Todd (Sarah) Scales, Kevin (Kristie) Collier, Bryan (Karri) Collier, nieces Janet (Andy) Clarkson, Melanie Scales, and Kelley Heflin, and several great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pewitt was a graduate of Community High School and Middle Tennessee State College where she majored in Home Economics.

In addition to the most important roles of wife, mother, and grandmother, she held various jobs throughout her life including PE teacher at Shelbyville Central High School, dental assistant for Dr. Albert Caffey, bank teller for many years at Peoples National Bank, records secretary at Shelbyville Central High School, and ticket coordinator at The Celebration.

She was a wonderful seamstress who used her talents for her family and others in the community. She was very involved with Christ Lutheran Church, First United Methodist Church, and First Church of the Nazarene at various stages in her life.

Known as Nana to her grandchildren, they held a very special place in her heart. In addition to being a Nana, she enjoyed serving and helping others, always with her signature sweet smile. Kindness and humility were at the top of her God given gifts. She loved the Lord, and it showed in how she chose to live her life. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Carriage House Inn and The Heart Remembers which were her home for over 6 years. They also appreciate the love and compassion shown to Mrs. Pewitt and family by Hospice Compassus in the final two weeks of her earthly life.
