Funeral service for Julius Loftes Stephens, age 93, of Shelbyville, will be held 12 noon Tuesday, March 22, 2022, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastors Jimmy Gray and Clancey Burk officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Mr. Stephens passed from this early Sunday morning, March 20, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will start at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

A native of Bedford County, Julius was born April 12, 1928, in Flat Creek to the late Edward Thomas and Druecela Smith Stephens. He was preceded in death by: beloved wife of 61 years, Martha June Nichols Stephens; son, Ronnie Stephens; sisters, Nancey Sanders Linda Evener, Virginia Smith and Gay Wallace; and brothers, Edward Stephens, Tommy Stephens, Bill Stephens, Sam Stephens and Rafe “Whistle” Stephens.

Julius was employed with Reed Electric Motor Company for 40+ years before retirement and was a member of the VFW and Military Order of The Purple Heart. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart. He was of the Baptist faith and his favorite pastime was waving at folks passing by, from his front porch on Whitthorne Street.

Survivors include: daughter, Vicki (Clyde) Lamb of Shelbyville; grandson, Chad (Moranda) Odeneal of Shelbyville; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Dillain, Katie, Zain and Cody; great great grandchildren, Ella Kate, Greyson, Addison, and one on the way.
