Karen Dianne Pope Ferrell, age 75, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, March 18, 2022.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m., at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Allen Pope and Vivian Antone Watson Pope; a son, Michael Shane Wallace; and her husband, James C. (Jim) Ferrell.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Scott Wallace and his wife, Lisa, of Milton; grandson Joshua Sean Wallace and his wife, Erica, of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, 1st Lt. Kaitlin Rae Wallace-Rupe of (Ft. Sill) Lawton, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Annistyn Kate Wallace; and great-grandson, Jaxton Bryce Wallace. She is also survived by siblings, Janice Shain Rozell and her husband Ted; Gayle Wiser and her husband Gary; and Allen Pope and his wife, Patty, all of Murfreesboro; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and many friends, all of whom she loved dearly.

Dianne was born and raised in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and she and her siblings helped their parents with the family business, Pope’s Café. Dianne graduated from Shelbyville Central High School in 1964. She briefly attended MTSU and later worked there as a secretary in the athletics department. In 1984, she went to work for Nissan in Smyrna, and retired from there in 2008. Dianne was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro.

Dianne had a great zest for life and enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, shopping, listening to Willie Nelson (her favorite), casino outings, and had a great love for antiques and collectibles.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Aveanna Hospice Care for their assistance to Scott and Lisa in Dianne’s care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
