After only scoring 11 points in the first half against Jackson County in the regular season finale on Thursday night, the Cascade Lady Champions unleashed a furious second-half rally that cut the Lady Blue Devil Lead to just four points.

The Lady Champs, however, weren't able to sustain that surge and Jackson County was able to pull away in the fourth quarter to finish off the 46-34 victory.

Trailing 23-11 after the first half, little by little Cascade was able to whittle away the Jackson County advantage and thanks to a steady dose of Jordan Green's efforts in the paint, trailed by single figures after three quarters.

With just over four minutes left in regulation, Lani Jones was fouled and sent to the free throw line for a one-and-one attempt.

Her made free throw on the front end cut the Jackson County lead to four points.

While Cascade was able to work to the line in the fourth quarter and cashed in on 7-of-12 tries, the Lady Champs were limited to just one made shot from the floor-a basket by Caroline Stone at the 3:47 mark, once again cutting the Lady Blue Devils lead to four points.

From there, Jackson County was able to work the ball in transition and pull away for the 12-point victory.

Ericka Davidson and Riley Thomas led three Lady Blue Devils in double figures, while Lilly Chaffin also hit double figures with 10 points.

For Cascade, it was a trio of Lady Champs who scored eight points apiece that led the team in scoring.

Kylie Calvert, Green and Jones each banked eight points in the regular season finale.

The game marked the last contest of the regular season and sets up a first-round game in the District 8-A tournament on Monday evening at Fayetteville City.

In two meetings this season against Cascade, Fayetteville City owns two wins over the Lady Champs, with the most recent being a 47-44 overtime victory.

Tip-off in the 8-A tournament is slated for 7 p.m. on Monday.
