UNIONVILLE - The Fayetteville Lady Tigers scored runs in the first three innings to take an early lead and went on to defeat the Community Viqueens 7-1 Monday as the Viqueens celebrated Senior Night.
The Lady Tigers scored single runs in the first and third innings and two runs in the second to take a 4-0 lead.
Fayetteville upped its lead to 7-0 with three runs in the top of the fifth before Community (17-10-1) rallied in the bottom of the inning.
Abby Murrill led off with an infield single and came around to score from first on an RBI-single by Rilley Davis as the Viqueens cut the Lady Tiger lead to 7-1.
The Viqueens had two hits in the seventh inning but could not make a further dent in the score.
Viqueen seniors Brianna Beech and Kelsea Kupcyzk were honored in ceremonies following the game.
"I'm proud of both of them because they're four-year seniors," Coach Cam Farrell of the Viqueens said. "As crazy as it is, we don't get many four-year seniors."
"I appreciate all the time they've given me and the sacrifices they've had to go through," Farrell added.
"We're going to miss them, but I'm proud of what they're going to go and do and accomplish."
Community is scheduled to close out its regular season with a district home game against Nolensville on Tuesday before opening the District 12-AA tournament at Giles County on Thursday.
