A graveside service for Laura “Jeep” Burris Thompson, age 90, of Bedford County, will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Willow Mount Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson passed from this life on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Morning Pointe of Tullahoma after an extended illness.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Doak-Howell Funeral Home prior to graveside service.
A native of Bedford Count,y Laura was born on November 17, 1932, to the late Tillman V. and Clarice Jackson Burris. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by: brothers, Thurman, L.J., and Harold; sisters, Jewel Kinser and M.A. Crigger; nieces, Vicky Brasier and Judy Lambert; and nephew, Jack Burris.
Mrs. Thompson loved her family, her profession, and her church. She worked as an LPN from 1963 until her retirement in 1995 and was a member of Fairlane Church of Christ.
She is survived by: son, Daniel B. (Becky) Thompson; daughters, Colette Thompson and Robin (Dale) Harrell; grandsons, Danny (Robin) Thompson, Chase (April) Melson, and Nathan (Krislyn) Melson; granddaughter, Betsy Phillips; great grandchildren, Robbie Thompson, Aubyrne Phillips, Amethyst Phillips, Rylan Melson, Kynzee Melson, Clara Melson, August Melson, Violet Melson and Stephen Bingham; also many nephews and nieces.
