Utility trailer thefts continue to increase across Bedford County.
•One was stolen between 2-3 a.m. Tuesday from a yard in the 2200 block of Highway 41A North, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said. The owner’s children saw what appeared to be a flashlight in the yard during that period.
The thief ultimately failed; the trailer came unhitched from a vehicle and was reported abandoned in the yard of another Highway 41A North resident.
•Another trailer was taken Friday of last week from a fenced yard Friday of last week but not reported missing until Tuesday. That trailer has not been recovered, according to the BCSO.
Thefts
•Security video captured a neighbor stealing a package containing a book from a mailbox at a home on Highway 130 East, the BCSO was told Monday.
The victim said the neighbor has stolen other items in the past.
•A checkbook and business-related documents were stolen overnight Sunday from A to Z Auto Care, South Cannon Boulevard, Shelbyville police were told.
Checkpoint
A sobriety checkpoint on Highway 41A North .9 miles south of the 3-mile marker is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Friday, July 1, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol press release.
