BELL BUCKLE - A motorcyclist was reported to have hit one of the contestants of the RC-Cola and MoonPie Festival’s 10-mile run.

Reports say the runner was seriously injured when two motorcyclists drove through a blocked-off area. They sped away after hitting the runner. One motorcycle was white, the other black. The rider on the white motorcycle is suspected of being the one who hit the runner.

The identity of the runner has not been revealed. According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Department, the runner was taken to Vanderbilt-Bedford Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning during the race. Only injuries, and no fatalities, were reported at the time. It is unknown whether the disturbance was done intentionally or on purpose.

Limited information was given at press time. One of the motorcyclists has been identified through video, but a name has not been released.
