Our "Heroes for Hunger" are the sole reason for the overwhelming success of the 2019 Shelbyville Community Soup Kitchen Fundraiser Dinner. Collectively, and without hesitation, you stepped up and bought table sponsorships, provided amazing baskets and delicious desserts to be auctioned, you donated monies, served our guests, decorated tables, you gave of your musical and auction expertise... you covered virtually all expenses for what it took to put this amazing night together. Our local food partners, Kroger and Tyson, to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude, donated the foods used to prepare a gourmet meal that was prepared by dedicated soup kitchen volunteers.

Just a short three and one-half years ago, the notion of helping to feed our local homeless and marginalized population was a tiny glimmer of an idea. Only because of the ongoing support from our caring community, has this become a vital and expanding ministry. The SCSK Board of Governors has many goals for helping "the least of these" who reside in our community. We invite you, our friends, to continue to be involved in this ministry as it grows and provides much-needed services to our fellow residents.

As you may already be aware, SCSK was recently gifted a building that will hopefully, in time, be the new site for serving meals to our soup kitchen guests. It is an older building in need of much restoration. God's hand is at work in helping reach a $50,000 goal, which an anonymous donor has offered a 3 times match for, up to $150,000. Therefore, any monies donated to this fund will become worth three times more than the original gift. With SCSK being a not-for-profit organization, now is the perfect time to increase your giving in a way that will be compounded exponentially.

We are so very grateful and humbled by the generous response to this year's fundraiser. Your many hands and hearts joined together to help others. What a wonderful example of love is this!

With sincere gratitude,

Kay Bartley

2019 SCSK Fundraiser Chair
