To the editor,

As a person who tends to believe that people are generally good, I have a hard time understanding the reason why people would vote for a President who is so obviously such a horrible failure of a human being. There is no reason to bring up Donald Trump's draft dodging, his numerous sexual assaults and affairs, his false Christianity, his habitual dishonesty,  or his businesses that he has bankrupted because of his own incompetence. Instead, it might be of more interest to review just a few of his failures as President.

Trump pulled the US out of the nuclear deal with Iran, on the spur of the moment with no planning or care for the consequences. Iran was destroying their atomic weapons program, but they are now enriching uranium to use

for bomb making. If they use their bombs on Israel the US will be pulled into another mideast war. Americans will die. Trump does not care.

Trump pulled the US out of the Trans Pacific Partnership with no planning or care for the consequences. This partnership would have been a strong economic bloc to use to force China to reform its policies. Instead, Trump decided to start a trade war with China that we are not winning.

Thousands of American farmers have gone bankrupt. Many have committed suicide. Trump does not care.

Trump has been very proud of rolling back environmental protections on American soil and water. Apparently businesses making money are more important than birth defects, heavy metal poisoning, and cancers in American citizens. Trump does not care.

Trump instituted policies at the US border that ripped children away from their families. This was nothing but state sponsored child abuse. If this happened in another country Americans would be outraged. When Trump does it, Trump voters just make excuses. A few of those children have died in custody. All of them will be scarred for life. Trump does not care.

Trump has spent the last five years attacking news that he does not want to hear as 'fake news'. In Trump's 'post truth' America, any news that does not stroke his fragile ego is labeled as fake. America cannot last as a country when truth is vilified and lies are embraced without question.

America's survival as a country is in question. Trump does not care.

Trump and his Congress reduced taxes for the rich at the same time that they raised the National Debt from 20 to 27 Trillion dollars. Can some right wing mathematical genius please tell me how the country will pay off more debt with less income. I now understand how Trump has had so manyfailed businesses. Trump does not care.

Ignorance, lack of integrity, lack of honesty, and a proudly displayed lack of basic humanity are the defining characteristics of the Republican Party, today. Maybe America has always had this streak of ugliness at its core. But one thing I do know, Trump and the type of people who vote for Trump have never been the type of people who have made America great.
