COALMONT — A night after tossing a no-hitter against Hickman County in Community’s 13-0 blowout victory, the Community Viqueens were back in action on Thursday night at Grundy County.
New opponent, same result.
Viqueen pitcher Taylar Wessner was in total control as she tossed a no-hitter as the Viqueens claimed their second-straight double-digit victory, with an 11-0 win over the Lady Yellow Jackets.
Wessner went the distance in the five-inning game before the 10-run mercy rule limit was reached.
Community plated three runs in the top of the first, added a fourth in the second frame, the closed out Grundy County with two in the third, two in the fourth and three more in the fifth to reach the 10-run rule limit.
Six different Viqueens recorded multi-hit games and as a team, Community belted out five extra base hits.
Haley Mitchell was an RBI machine, knocking in five runs in a 2-for-3 night, which included a double.
Abbi Murrill, Abi Brown, Haley Farrar, Chloe West and Wessner also all recorded multi-hit nights.
Wessner helped her own cause with a 2-for-4 night, which included a triple.
She also knocked in a run and scored twice.
From the pitcher’s circle, she struck out seven and didn’t allow a walk.
Thursday’s no-hitter comes on the heels of Wednesday’s no-no which saw a similar stats line across the board for the Viqueens.
Wessner went the distance and struck out seven, while the Viqueens hammered Hickman County pitchers for 11 hits.
Murrill went 2-for-3, while Wessner went 3-for-4.
Community wrapped up a busy week of games on Friday at Culleoka, however results were unavailable at press time.
The Viqueens return to their home field on Monday for Senior Night against Fayetteville City before wrapping up the regular season on Tuesday at Columbia Central.
