Posted

William Collins "Bill" Brown, of Shelbyville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the age of 69. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday, April 29 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Lynchburg Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 30 at 1 p.m. at Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, with Bro. Darryl Haney officiating.

Mr. Brown was born in Lincoln County to the late Fred D. and Mary Evelyn Haney Brown. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. After his discharge from the Air Force (where he served during the Vietnam conflict), he worked the next 32 years as an outside machinist's mate at AEDC, working his way up to foreman. He was well-liked and had a very laid-back persona, as evident by his moniker, "The Dude." An avid stamp and coin collector, Bill also enjoyed playing darts and playing bass guitar. Ever the optimist, Dude was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lung and brain cancer and fought bravely with chemo and radiation treatments. During his final days, he was comforted by his wife, Donna, his dogs, Pearl and Boomer, and his extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Richard Foster Brown; grandparents, Elsie and Dolly Haney.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Rutledge Brown of Shelbyville, TN; son, Robert Keath (Jennifer) Brown of Tampa, FL; brothers, Jimmy Van (Betty) Brown of Fayetteville, TN, Phillip Ray Brown of Huntsville, AL; sister, Mary Fonda (John) George of Dellrose, TN; grandson, Jackson Richard Brown of Tampa, FL.
