William E. 'Bill' Doak

William E. "Bill" Doak, age 68, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. A private graveside service was held April 18, 2021.

A Gathering of Family and Friends was held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home.

Born January 7, 1953, in Smithville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Charles L. Doak and Myrtie Ann Evins. He is preceded in death by: parents; brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Doak; nephew, Jeremey Doak; and step-mother, Donette Dedmon Doak.

Mr. Bill graduated from Lebanon High School Class of 1971, attended John A. Gupton Mortuary College in Nashville and earned his Funeral Director/Embalmer's License from Gupton Jones Mortuary College in Atlanta in 1975. He and his wife, Martha married February 11, 1972, and started a family. He worked as a Funeral Director/Embalmer for several funeral homes throughout Shelbyville, Middle Tennessee, and Georgia before starting Doak Grave Service, and continued using his license as a Trade Embalmer. He served the Middle TN area until 1995 before relocating his family to Fort Mill, S.C., Wilkesboro, N.C., and Lebanon, Tennessee before returning to Bedford County in 2001 to manage Doak-Howell Funeral Home. He served the families of Bedford and surrounding counties until his passing. He enjoyed working: socializing with folks, telling stories, fishing, hunting, Alabama football, and Sunday dinner with his family, and praising God for all his blessings.

Bill was a wonderful husband, father, and friend that loved to serve the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family and anyone who knew him.

Bill is survived by: his loving wife of 49 years, Martha Bobo Doak; children, Matt Doak, Luke (Nicole) Doak, Caleb (Jessica) Doak, Micah (Josh) Wilson, Joel (Jamie) Doak, Israel (Ashleigh) Doak, Ephraim (Laura) Doak, Jesse (Dustin) Ray, Judah Doak and Samuel Doak all of Bedford County; brothers, Charlie Doak, Jr. of Lebanon and Andy (Melissa) Doak of Tullahoma; sister, Leigh-Ann (Charles) Lasater of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Marsh Doak, along with 20 grandchildren and one on the way.

Doak-Howell Funeral Home is serving the family.
