Avonda Jean Chandler, born on June 18, 1949, in Lincoln, Tennessee, peacefully departed from this world on July 12, 2024, in Greenville, Texas. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
Avonda Jean Chandler was a dedicated bus driver who started her career in Bedford County, moving on to Rutherford; and eventually moving on to work for Farmington ISD; where she spent many wonderful years, until her retirement.
Avonda's life was marked by her generosity and kindness. Her personality shone through in everything she did; always wearing a smile and willing to help others, even if it meant giving the shirt off her back. In addition to her professional life, Avonda found joy in hobbies such as sewing and crocheting.
Avonda is survived by her loving daughter, Regina Parker; grandson Eric (Allison) Sanders; great-granddaughter Gracelyn Claire Sanders; siblings Zackery Allen, Terrell Allen, Jann Johnson, Joel Allen; husband, Jerry Bowen Sr.; stepson Jerry L Bowen Jr.; numerous step-grandchildren, and many step great-grandchildren.
Avonda is preceded in death by her step daughter; Kim Bash; son-in-law, Danny Parker; sisters-in-law, Sherry and Shirley Allen.
Services to honor and celebrate Avonda's life will take place at Peters Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas. A visitation will be held on July 17th, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Though she may no longer be with us physically, Avonda's spirit of kindness and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched. May she rest in peace.
