Bo Gill runs for 5th District Commission Seat

Posted

Bo Gill has announced his candidacy for Bedford County Commissioner, District 5. He told the T-G recently that he’s driven by a commitment to service, community, and responsible growth.
“Bedford County is growing rapidly, and with that growth come real challenges—especially in infrastructure, public services, and preserving the rural character that makes our county home. I believe we can meet these challenges by planning wisely, seeking innovative funding solutions, and holding higher standards for residential development without placing unnecessary burdens on taxpayers.”
Gill said that a core focus of his campaign is strengthening cooperation between City and County governments.
“Too often, a lack of communication leads to misunderstandings, conflict, and costly delays. I believe in proactive, diplomatic leadership—building relationships early, encouraging open dialogue, and working collaboratively to solve problems before they escalate.”
Gill added, “I am especially committed to creating opportunities that encourage our young people and families to live, work, and stay in Bedford County. That means supporting responsible job growth, investing in infrastructure, and ensuring Bedford remains a safe, family-centered community.”
Gill said he considers himself “a conservative who values preservation—protecting our local character, traditions, and way of life—while recognizing that thoughtful change is sometimes necessary.”
He believes that public office should be about service, not personal ambition. Leaders should listen first, remain accessible, and approach each issue on its own merits with fairness and objectivity.
“If elected, I will prioritize transparency, community engagement, and practical solutions that reflect the values of District 5 and all of Bedford County.”
“I would be honored to earn your support.”
Gill currently serves as vice chairman of the Shelbyville Municipal Planning Commission and as a member of the Industrial Development Board. He has served as chairman and vice chairman of the Bedford County Republican Party.
He considers himself a family man. Born and raised in Bedford County, he is the son of Alan and Teresa Gill. He is supported, he said, by his wife, Emily, their daughter, Everleigh, and his brother, Tyler Gill, along with Tyler’s wife, Staci, and their daughters, Lotti and Lila.
